That said, after completing the first two campaign missions, it felt as if I’d experienced all that there was to do, and I didn’t feel encouraged to do more (although I did). GameplayĬarmageddon Max Damage is a third-person car combat game with several modes and a heap of content to engage with. Menu layouts, generic heavy music, red and black everywhere: all things you’d forgive at a £12.99 price point perhaps, but not so much at the £29.99 asking price as it stands.

No matter the difference between this and, say, Forza, most will see a car game.Īs a whole, the design of Carmageddon just seems mediocre all-round. The biggest difficulty for Carmageddon, and perhaps an unfair judgement against it, is that it’s a car game on the surface. Much like the rest of the game, it doesn’t look great, but it’s fine. The damage done to the cars in Carmageddon is visible and progresses through several stages, eventually reaching the point of having missing wheels or only the chassis at times. Though cars can be customised to suit the needs and wants of the individual, there’s nothing special about this game’s style at all. That said, it’s not exactly a work of art either. The cars are varied as are the arenas in which they do battle, and I experienced no performance issues in my somewhat brief time. Carmageddon Max Damage isn’t a bad looking game.
